In the process of sand casting, the pattern is made from wood, metal, or plastic. The ladle is placed in a level position, and the molten metal is poured into the mold, conforming to the patterns. Once the molten metal has cooled completely, it is removed from the mold. Unlike other casting processes, this process does not require pressure and gravity is used to pour the molten metal into the mold.

In addition to the pattern, sand flowability affects the accuracy of the casting. The higher the flowability of the sand, the better the quality of the finished casting. In addition to the surface finish, the sand must not melt while being poured into a mold. The refractory strength is the ability of sand to withstand high temperatures. After sand conditioning, the sand can be reused to make more castings.
